OVERVIEW

An original Italian invention from 1958 the Autohome roof top tent has been the companion of adventurers, explorers and travellers around the world for well over sixty years. Identifying a need for freedom and independence in the mass car-tourism market, Autohome created the greatest and most luxurious tent in the world which still remains the number one best seller today.

Autohome tents have pioneered many new ideas, methods, and materials that have set standards for performance to cater for arctic conditions to the heat of sub-Saharan Africa, to the high mountains and steppes of Asia, to the Andes, Arizona and Alaska. The Columbus is perfect for a weekend away or a lengthy trek as it offers simplicity, fast and easy setup, is light weight, and an aerodynamic design to go where you want to go—on any automobile, truck, van or 4x4 vehicle.

The Columbus Variant has excellent access—from either side or from the rear. The internal gas rams effortlessly open the tent in seconds. Packing the tent for travel is just as fast and easy. Bedding can be stored in your tent, so there is nothing to do except open the latch, give the tent top a gentle push, unzip the doors, set up the ladder, and get comfortable.

The Columbus is built on an internal sub-frame incorporating an insulating foam sandwich construction. The subframe is strong and light and they mount directly to standard roof rack cross bars. This foam sandwich construction insulates the tent and minimizes condensation under the mattress.

The Columbus Variant comes with pre-drilled holes to accomodate a ”Fit Kit” that provides a sturdy base for fitting a standard, gutter mounted roof rack system. This can be used to transport surfboards, kayaks or similar lighter loads that can ’t fit inside the vehicle. NOTE: This is not available on the Columbus XL models.
